Its the Prayers For Me
I had never been to Vegas before and honestly before dating David I had no desire to go. David arranged it so his flight would have a layover in Dallas. That way he could fly with me from Dallas to Vegas. I love his consideration for me. When I arrived at the airport, I had quite a bit of time before I was due to take off and David’s plane wasn’t set to arrive for another 45 minutes or so. Cool, I can get through this chaos and make it to my gate and gather myself. You know, fix my self up so I’m looking pretty and put together for when he sees me. Lol, don’t act as if I’m the only one who does this. The night before our flight, we prayed over our trip. One of the things that stood out to me was him asking God to allow us to have favor on this trip. He asked for favor with everyone we would deal with or come into contact with. I don’t know about you all but, it’s not only his looks and personality that drew me in to him. It’s the prayers for me! And not just the prayers but the fact that he walks out what he prays about, daily. I mean, he’s not praying for a better relationship with God but living reckless. You know that prayer that starts out like, “Lord, you know my heart…” All the while his actions are showing something different. No judgment cause I’m sure we all have done and said some form of those words and actions.
Delayed
I made it through airport security and figured out where my gate was. I then headed to get freshened up before I came back to read that David’s flight was delayed! Not only was it delayed, but the way the airport was situated, it would take him about 30 minutes or so to make it to our gate. By this time there was roughly 30 minutes until we were meant to board our plane. Time is ticking and as we get closer to boarding time I’m starting to get nervous that maybe he’s not going to make it in time. Just 15 minutes until boarding and his flight finally shows as landed. I headed to the front desk to let the attendant there know our situation. The look on his face said, “It’s not looking good for you guys.” He said he would see what he could do and I returned to my seat. Shortly after, they started to board the plane. Still no David. They called group after group until I was the last woman standing. The attendant called my group ages ago. The guy at the front desk motioned for me to come to the desk. “I am assuming you don’t want to take this flight without the rest of your party so I will see what I can do to stall.” I wanted so badly to ask him why, but I already knew why. When David asked God for favor with everyone we would deal or come into contact with, this situation was covered. Ten minutes felt like 30 minutes and finally that handsome man came strutting around the corner to the gate with his luggage in tote. With a huge smile as he approached me, I heard those words, ‘Hey Beautiful.”
Vegas Flight
I thanked the attendant for holding things up for us and we made our way through the doors at the gate and onto the plane. Before we actually stepped foot on the plane, David grabbed my hand and touched the outside of the plane at the door. “We pray for this flight Lord and everyone on it.” That is now a tradition of ours before each flight. This first flight together was a check off my list. I always imagined us on a plane seeing the world together. I did not have Vegas on the must see list but I am glad God had other plans. It was beautiful.
We stayed at the Mandalay Bay and it too was beautiful. David introduced me to several of his co-workers on our arrival to the hotel Lobby. I was beaming from ear to ear as he pulled me close to him while he spoke to people he knew. He was so attentive and aware of our surroundings. He would place his hand in the small of my back, you know the respectful area, and slightly motion me one way or the other when he could see someone not paying attention getting ready to bump me with their luggage. I am 5’3″ and in crowded places, can sometimes feel like I’m getting trampled. David was having none of that, lol. As sweet as he is, he made sure my space was respected. He did it without being rude or causing a scene as well.
Exploring
Our time in Vegas was spent exploring the different hotels and site seeing. The First couple of days we walked the strip. We went from hotel to hotel enjoying everything there was to see and some of the things there was to do.
We went to see the World’s largest chocolate fountain in the Bellagio Hotel. Later we went to Cesar’s Palace to see the fountain show and the Fall of Atlantis fire show. I was having the time of my life. Who knew Vegas would be my cup of tea? I don’t gamble, smoke, or drink and had only ever heard people talk about going to Vegas for those reasons. Glad I told him yes when he asked me to go with him.
The Gala
The trip’s main event was the Gala. That night felt like a scene out of a movie to me. We dressed in our matching black attire, and hand in hand walked through the Mandalay to get to the event center where the Gala was being held. The night was filled with dinner, dessert, entertainment and of course dancing.
As far as I was concerned, there were only two people in that event, just he and I. We were so in-tuned with each other and very much flirty. I didn’t want the night to end.
Time to Go. Bye Vegas
Our last day there was bitter sweet. We both knew it was time to go, and that was bitter. The sweet part about it was, we had become so close during this trip, that we were both excited and talking about the future and what’s next for us. That’s one thing I like about our relationship. There is always something to look forward to. We took a few more pics, made our rounds to his co-workers, said our goodbyes, and checked out of the hotel. As we headed to the airport, there was only one question left to ask, and it was as if we were both thinking it at the same time. “Who’s coming to see who next?” A quick recollection revealed that I had made the last trip to see David in Tennessee. “I guess I’ll be coming to see you next then Beautiful.” And with that, I spent the plane flight home reminiscing about the last few days and anticipating his trip to see me next time.
Aww, this sounds like a great time. I don’t drink, smoke, or gamble either so it’s good to know I’m not the only one who doesn’t do that in Vegas. I usually go to see shows, shop or go sight-seeing.
