Introducing Me and Mommy!
Today starts a new category I am excited to get into. It’s the Me and Mommy category! If you are reading today’s post, maybe you can relate to the pressures and stress of being a new mom. Connecting with other mothers, their hacks, and tools they used, is what helped me keep my sanity. Babies are a blessing and a handful. Let’s journey into what helps along the way.
Today I will provide 5 of the most helpful items I used as a new mom. Some I still use today. If this is not your first rodeo with children, feel free to leave a comment with your suggestions and tips that can help other mothers.
First to bat is the Fire 7 inch kids tablet. This tablet’s a life saver for car rides. I purchased this tablet when my son was 3 months, specifically to help us get through car rides where it was just he and I. He would cry all the way to and from anywhere we had to go. It seemed to be a very stressful activity for my little guy which only stressed me out even more. A thirty minute car ride would turn into an hour because I would stop and pull over to soothe my little one if possible.
Once I purchased the fire 7 kids tablet, that all changed! He enjoyed being visually stimulated by the bright colors and sounds played for him on this tablet. As a result, we were able to turn a car ride he seemed to hate, into one that we both could take with little to no anxiety. The best part about it is he can continue to use this tablet as he gets older. The parental guidance allows you to choose which apps are visible such as kids-only movies, books and games.
Next up is this amazing co-sleeper! As a first time mother, I looked for things that would alleviate stress from my little one. This would in turn alleviate some of my stress. Let me tell you, the co-sleeper did just that! The Baby Delight Snuggle Nest Portable Infant Lounger provided my infant with the comfort of sleeping with mom and dad near by. The hard exterior creates a barrier between us and the baby, keeping him safe from overtired mommy and daddy’s tossing and turning.
This co-sleeper turned me from a zombie mom waking up and walking over to his bassinet every two hours, to waking up and simply reaching over to get him while never having to leave the bed, except on certain occasions. This also made it a lot easier for dad to help out at night so I could get some much needed rest at times.
Number 3 is the Baby Brezza Formula Dispenser. This machine helped us first time parents save some time and mess. First off, with a tank in the back, this machine holds about 50 ounces of water. Secondly, the tank on the top holds 700 grams of powdered formula. Once we followed the instructions and set the machine to the specific formula we used, the machine preheated the water and made bottles between 2-10 ounces.
Cleanup is easy. After every 4 bottles, the indicator light came on to let us know it’s time to clean. We just wipe out the funnel where the formula dispenses. Monthly maintenance is needed. Running a cleaning solution of distilled water and vinegar through the system once a month, helps to prevent lime buildup. The instruction on the manual are easy to follow. This machine never gave us any issues and we still use it now!
The Never Drop Silicone Baby Teething Toy was a must have. This teether fits perfectly in our little one’s hand but although it says never drop, he dropped it plenty lol. Nevertheless, he dropped it a lot less than the other toys he had to hold. To clarify, we didn’t get it for the, “Never Drop” feature. We really needed something that would help soothe those sore gums and give him something to safely chew on.
Our little one loved this toy. We had tried other teething toys with no success. Once we came upon this one, we knew we had found a winner and one he would actually use.
Last but certainly not least, the Baby Merlin’s Cotton Magic Sleepsuit!!!! This suit was the beginning of our little one sleeping on his own. We spent countless days and nights bouncing on an exercise ball to soothe our little one to sleep. When we found the Merlin Sleepsuit, we said bye bye to the endless bouncing.
Our little one was an escape artist with the swaddle. No matter how good we swaddled him, he would always wiggle his way out and wake himself. But, with the Merlin Sleepsuit, he was comfy, cozy and unable to escape. Not that he ever wanted to. He easily fell asleep in minutes after putting it on.
Doing What’s Best
Most importantly, we do what’s best for our little guy. We make sure to do our research on all the products we introduce him to for safety. Furthermore, we monitor him closely for any agitation or dangers. The products listed above, when used correctly, work as described and are very helpful to this new mommy!
